He is a successful business person who visits once a week and Mariam is his only illegitimate child.
Mariam decided to walk and find his home, however, he never let her inside. She had no choice but to sleep on the street, by morning she was driven back to her home by her dad’s chauffeur. Mariam, already heartbroken has to deal now with what awaits her at home.
Nana, her mother, committed suicide while she was gone. This tragedy forced her to live with her father, but she isn’t accepted there by his wives and was obliged to marry a widowed shoemaker in Kabul. She was treated well at first but after her miscarriages, her husband started to abuse her both physically and mentally. Her life continues to turn upside down and eventually results in her killing Rasheed for brutally beating Laila his second wife. This book will keep you on your toes as it unfolds the fate of everyone involved.
