Introduction
An often irrational fear of some parents is the case of returning home to find that your children have destroyed your home. That may involve a mishap caused by a stove, or a match. The tale of Jumanji takes this to new heights, with a live lion being one of the culprits. When the parents of a young brother and sister, leave them at home alone, boredom leads the two siblings to explore. In their venturing, they stumble across the most amazing, yet dangerous board game ever made.
Jumanji Book PDF Plot
The soon to be great adventurers Judy and Peter are left on their own at home. Their parents choose to step out to attend an Opera. Judy and Peter were instructed to keep the house tidy until their parents return. However, though the house was still tidy, boredom was making a mess in their young mind. The children decide to visit the park across the street, where they discover a mysterious object. This object was under a tree in the park and on it, were the words “Jumanji: A Jungle Adventure Game”.
The children take it home with them, where Judy begins to read the rules for the game out loud. Some of the rules went as follows, “the person to escape the jungle and reach the Golden City wins”. Also, another rule essentially meant that the game once started can’t be stopped, until someone reaches the Golden City. Baring the rules in mind Peter rolls the dice, which starts the game.
After the dice lands, the phrase a lion attack appears, which Peter becomes aware of, from the advice of his sister to turn around. Quite scarred Peter flees from the lion but manages to, fortunately, trap it in his room. Forced to continue playing because of the game rules. The children begin to roll, the result not only confuse them but also start destroying their home. The game even summons a stampede of rhinos, destroys their furniture and living room.
This series of house wrecking events continue, using different natural threats along the way. It goes as far as creating an erupting volcano which causes the children, to almost lose hope of the house returning to normal. It was at this that Judy, fortunately, rolls the dice that allows her to enter into the Golden city. This means that the children have won the game. The animals summoned and the destruction caused by the game all vanish. The house has returned to how it was before their parents left. They pack the game up and rush to the park and hastily put it under the tree where they found it.
The great adventurers return home, where they fall asleep on the couch from exhaustion.
