Introduction
Midnight Sun by the famous Stephenie Meyer release date was on August 4th, 2020. Shortly after the book’s release, die-hard fans of the Twilight series have been begging for its adaptation into a movie format. If you take into consideration that Breaking Dawn Part 2 premiered in 2012. Along with fans of Stephenie’s book series continuously commenting that her writing gets better with every book she writes. The Twilight fanbase, burning desire to see an addition to the series catalog is understandable. It is unclear whether the production of the film has begun as yet or will begin soon. But, will the fanbase have an on-screen reunion with the actors of Twilight’s beloved couple of Edward and Bella? That seems to be tricky. Kristen Stewart(Bella) has taken on various roles since 2012. At the time of this article’s writing, Kristen’s newest role is playing Princess Diana in Spencer( movie expected for fall 2021). Robert Pattinson(Edward) has the lead role of Bruce Wayne in The Batman( movie expected between fall 2021 and 2022). These are drastic role transformations, without any doubt. Will the acting roles of Bella and Edward interest them again? Only time will tell. However, my advice to the Twilight fanbase is to remain hopeful and never underestimate the power of supply and demand.
Midnight Sun Plot
Five years after her 2015 novella Life and Death: Twilight Reimagined, Stephenie Meyer returns with a new hit book Midnight Sun (2020). Midnight Sun andTwilight(2005), the first installment of the Twilight series, are two sides of the same coin. Stephenie wrote Twilight’s storyline from the perspective of Bella Swan. However, in Midnight Sun, Stephenie depicts the same storyline from the perspective of Edward Cullen. Mrs. Meyer has stated that Twilight is the only book she plans to rewrite from Edward’s viewpoint for the fans hoping for more.
When the book begins, Renée Dwyer has divorced her ex-husband and Isabella’s father, Charlie Sawn. Renée is enjoying her new life with her husband, Phil Dwyer, and has plans to travel the world with him. Renée does not want to bring along the extra luggage that is Isabella Swan and forces Bella to move in with her father in the town called Forks, Washington.
Eventually, Bella settles in and begins her studies at Forks High School. Bella’s cute face and her natural ability to be adorably clumsy wins her a lot of attention. The story becomes interesting after Bella earns the attention of Edward Cullen. Unknown to Bella and the entire school, for that matter, Edward and his adopted siblings Alice, Jasper, Rosalie, and Emmett are a family of vampires. Edward initially is interested in Bella, not for her looks or charm. But, for the same fact, she is immune to his telepathic abilities. Edward has the gift( though some may consider it a curse) to read the minds of everyone around him. But, put yourself in Edward’s shoes for a
moment. You know the thoughts of everyone around you except one new clumsy girl at your school. Why? Who is she? Why is she different? Don’t those questions naturally come to your mind?
The situation becomes even weirder for Edward when he realizes that Bella commands his attention with more than just curiosity. When Edward sits near to Bella in class, the scent of Bella’s blood intoxicates him. The smell is so potent that Edward must resist a beast-like urge to make Bella his next meal every second he is near her. As the book progresses, Edward becomes drawn to Bella, not for immunity to his powers nor her blood but for who she is as a person. Bella’s strange beauty as a person fills the vampire with a sense of humanity. A feeling Edward had long forgotten. Edward has been a vampire for nearly a century. What desires will win within Edward when it comes to Bella? The lusting desires of the bloodthirsty beast within him or the remains of the man he had long forgotten?
