Wild written by Cheryl Strayed is her self-biography of a thousand-mile hike from the Mojave Desert to the border of Washington through the Pacific Crest Trail. The reason for her journey is also revealed throughout the novel. Wild describes Cheryl’s journey before and after the hike and serves as a reminder of her physical and mental struggles. At the age of 26, Cheryl started her self-discovery journey; after suffering from heroin use after her mother’s death when she was only 22 and the rest of her distant family.
